Desmopuntius Rhomboocellatus

Desmopuntius Rhomboocellatus

Desmopuntius rhomboocellatus or snakeskin barb, is a species of cyprinid fish endemic to Borneo where it is found in western and central Kalimantan. It is an extremely pretty fish that is rarely exported.

Puntius rhomboocellatus is very similar to other Puntius species, but they have diamond shaped markings on their body, giving them a snakeskin appearance. The base color of the body is reddish or orange with deep green rhomboid, vertical bars.

Snakeskin barb are quite shy, and although they may bicker amongst themselves from time to time, they are peaceful with other short-finned fish species. Desmopuntius rhomboocellatus will thrive and remain very colorful on a varied diet of omnivorous foods.
